Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the DataTrail website and platform. By using our services you agree to these Terms.

Accounts

You are responsible for the information you provide and for activity under your account. You must give an accurate email address and keep your access credentials secure. You must be authorized to connect any data warehouse or data source you add.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service, including by attempting to access data you are not authorized to, interfering with the platform, reverse-engineering it, or using it to violate any law or third-party right.

Plans and billing

Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or yearly basis as shown at signup. All payments are final and are not refunded, apart from the narrow billing errors described in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. We may change pricing with reasonable notice.

Renewals and failed payments. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. When a new billing period begins, access for that whole period is granted and the payment for it is due. If the charge does not go through, the payment remains due and we retry it. Cancelling after a new period has begun only switches off later renewals; it does not cancel the payment for the period that has already started. Such a renewal charge is not refundable, and your access continues until the end of that paid period. The fee is for access to the service for the period, not for using it, so not having used the service is not a ground for a refund.

Your data and ownership

You retain all rights to your data, schemas, and configuration. We connect with read-only access solely to read query history and metadata, build lineage and observability, and provide the service. We never have write access and never move, copy, or mutate your data. We claim no ownership over your data or configuration.

Read-only by design

DataTrail surfaces lineage, freshness signals, schema-change notices, and downstream impact estimates for your review. Its output is informational decision support and does not guarantee data correctness. You are responsible for reviewing and acting on any finding or recommendation.

Service availability

We work to keep the service available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Enterprise plans may include specific service-level agreements.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, DataTrail is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms. On termination, we will delete or return your information as described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated, and continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
