Ataccama and Collibra overlap on catalog and lineage, but they are built around different jobs: Ataccama ONE is a data quality platform that added governance, and Collibra is a governance platform that sells data quality as a separate module. On price, only Collibra has a public list: $170,000 a year on AWS Marketplace, a US federal GSA price list with the Standard platform at $166,346.53, and a UK government rate card where data quality is an add-on "from £122,919". Ataccama publishes no dollar figure anywhere we could find, only its meter: named users, data objects, and quality checks run in the last 90 days. Prices and pages were checked on 26 September 2026.

If you are comparing the two, you probably already have a mandate, a budget line and a shortlist from an analyst report. What the reports do not give you is how each vendor charges, which is where most of the difference in your final number comes from. This comparison starts there, then covers quality, governance and lineage, and ends with a plain recommendation for each type of buyer.

What Collibra costs

Collibra is the rare enterprise governance vendor with three independent public price points. Its AWS Marketplace listing sells one dimension, Collibra Cloud Platform, at $170,000.00 for 12 months, with 24 and 36-month terms at exactly two and three times that, so a longer contract buys no list discount. Our Collibra pricing page has the full listing.

The second is in dollars and is the one US buyers should anchor on. Collibra's software is on the US General Services Administration schedule through resellers Carahsoft and Vertosoft, and the federal price list is public. Read on 14 September 2026, it lists Collibra Data Intelligence Platform Standard (Cloud) at $166,346.53 a year, within 2.2% of the AWS figure, Premier at $261,641.73 and Ultimate at $363,784.89. A Creator seat is $6,142.16, a metadata integration per system $9,874.02, and custom technical lineage $10,861.42. Like every figure here, those are list prices before negotiation.

The third is the rate card Collibra filed with the UK government's G-Cloud 14 framework on 25 April 2024, which is the clearest about what each package bundles. Three platform packages: Standard at £96,541 a year (20 Creators, unlimited viewers, 3 metadata connectors, 1 technical lineage, 1 BI integration), Premier at £151,846 and Ultimate at £232,239. Then add-ons: an extra Creator seat at £3,565, a Contributor at £615, each metadata connector or technical lineage at £8,195, each BI or ETL integration at £20,487. And the line that matters most in this comparison: Data Quality "from £122,919", on top of the platform.

At the 1.3518 dollar rate we used when we first read the filing, Standard alone is about $130,500 and the Data Quality module about $166,200. So a Collibra deployment that covers governance and data quality starts near £219,460, roughly $296,700 a year at list, before seats beyond 20, extra connectors or implementation. The filing is from 2024 and prices move, but the 2026 AWS and GSA platform figures both sit inside its range, so it is still a fair guide to proportions. The mechanics of each meter are in our Collibra pricing model breakdown.

What Ataccama costs

Ataccama publishes the shape of its bill and nothing else. Its pricing page says three dimensions determine your tier:

  • Named users: "data professionals with full platform access". Consumers with view permissions are unlimited at every tier.
  • Data objects: objects managed in Ataccama ONE, such as tables, views, pipelines and BI reports.
  • Active DQ configurations: "quality and observability checks executed at least once in the past 90 days". Inactive configurations do not count.

Two policies on the same page are genuinely buyer-friendly and worth getting into the contract. "All limits are soft. Exceeding a limit doesn't interrupt operations or trigger charges", and long-term overages are "addressed collaboratively and never as a back-charge". Each named user also gets an annual allocation of AI queries for the ONE AI Agent, with more sold as an add-on.

There is no dollar figure behind any of it. Ataccama's AWS Marketplace listing does exist, but it prices all three tiers, Essential, Professional and Enterprise, at $1.00 each, described as "final pricing confirmed by Ataccama based on customer needs". That is a placeholder to enable a private offer, not a price, and anyone quoting it as one is wrong. A search of the UK G-Cloud catalog for Ataccama returned zero results on 26 September 2026, and Ataccama had no listings on the US GSA schedule when we searched it on 14 September. Third-party figures that circulate for Ataccama do not trace back to Ataccama, so we do not repeat them.

Is Ataccama cheaper than Collibra?

For a data quality program, the pricing structures point toward Ataccama, but only a quote can confirm it. Ataccama sells quality as the core of one platform, while Collibra's own filing prices Data Quality as a separate module from £122,919 on top of a platform package. For governance without data quality, Collibra's Standard package may well be the lower number.

The 90-day rule is the Ataccama detail to model before you negotiate. A check counts if it ran once in the last three months, so a quarterly batch job keeps every one of its rules on the meter all year, and an aggressive rollout in month two sets your tier for the renewal. Ask how active configurations are counted at renewal time, and whether retired checks drop off immediately or after 90 days.

Data quality is Ataccama's home ground

Ataccama ONE grew out of data quality and master data management, and it shows. Rule authoring, profiling, reference data, cleansing and MDM live in the same product, and Ataccama markets a Leader placement in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Augmented Data Quality Solutions. If your mandate reads like "fix customer and product data across systems" or "stand up a golden record", Ataccama is the more natural fit, and Collibra would have you buy a module plus a separate MDM tool.

Collibra's Data Quality module is a real product, not a checkbox, but it is priced and sold as an addition to the governance platform. Teams that buy Collibra primarily for quality tend to find they are paying for a stewardship program they did not need.

Governance and catalog are Collibra's home ground

Collibra is built for the governance office. Business glossary, stewardship workflows, policy management, data ownership and approval chains are its center of gravity, and its modules extend into privacy, AI governance (£81,946 for 20 Creators on the 2024 filing) and access protection. In regulated US industries where governance is an audit requirement, that depth is what you are paying for. Those teams usually track the regulations themselves somewhere else too, in a regulatory change monitoring system, and Collibra is where the resulting policies get attached to data.

Ataccama has a catalog, a glossary and governance workflows as well, and they are credible. But if the buyer is a chief data officer building an enterprise governance operating model, Collibra is the more established choice, and most shortlists reflect that.

Both offer column-level data lineage but sell it differently

This is where many comparison pages are wrong about Ataccama. Its documentation describes attribute-level lineage, which is column-level lineage under another name, built by per-technology scanners covering roughly eighteen sources including Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt, Power BI and Tableau. It can also ingest lineage produced by IBM Manta for legacy ETL.

Collibra's technical lineage viewer shows table-level, column-level and indirect lineage, on Collibra Platform 2025.11 or newer. The difference is commercial: the 2024 filing licenses technical lineage per unit at £8,195 a year, with one included in Standard, so lineage across several systems adds a line per system.

In both products lineage serves the governance or quality program. Neither is organized around the question a data engineer asks before a deploy: if I change this column, which models and dashboards break?

Which should you buy?

  • Choose Ataccama if data quality, cleansing or MDM is the mandate, if you want one platform rather than a governance suite plus modules, or if soft limits with no back-charges matter to your finance team.
  • Choose Collibra if the mandate is an enterprise governance program with stewards, policies and a glossary, if you are in a regulated industry where that program is audited, or if you value a public list price you can anchor a negotiation on.
  • Choose neither if the actual problem is that schema changes keep breaking dashboards and nobody can say what a column feeds. That is a lineage and monitoring job, and it does not need a six-figure platform.

For that third case, DataTrail connects read-only to Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift or Postgres and parses query history and dbt artifacts into column-level lineage. Impact analysis lists every downstream model and dashboard before a change merges, and freshness and schema alerts run on the same graph. Plans are $59 to $479 a month billed annually on the pricing page, a small fraction of either vendor's entry point. The fuller vendor-by-vendor picture is in our Ataccama comparison, Collibra competitors and data quality tools roundup.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Ataccama and Collibra?

Ataccama ONE is a data quality and master data management platform that also includes a catalog and governance. Collibra is a data governance and catalog platform that sells data quality as a separate module. Pick by mandate: quality and MDM lean Ataccama, an enterprise governance program leans Collibra.

How much does Ataccama cost?

Ataccama does not publish a price. Its pricing page describes the meter (named users, data objects and quality checks run in the past 90 days) and its AWS Marketplace tiers are $1.00 placeholders pending a private offer. Budget from a quote, and get the 90-day counting rule and the soft-limit policy written into the order form.

How much does Collibra cost?

Collibra lists $170,000 a year on AWS Marketplace, and its US GSA price list puts the Standard cloud platform at $166,346.53. Its 2024 UK government filing itemizes packages from £96,541 to £232,239 a year, with data quality from £122,919 and each extra technical lineage £8,195. Governance plus data quality therefore starts near $296,700 a year at list.

Does Ataccama replace Collibra?

For data quality, catalog and lineage, often yes. For a mature governance operating model with complex stewardship and policy workflows, usually not. Running both is also a legitimate design: Collibra as the governance system of record, Ataccama for quality and MDM.

Do Ataccama and Collibra both have column-level lineage?

Yes. Ataccama calls it attribute-level lineage, built by technology scanners. Collibra's technical lineage shows column-level and indirect lineage and is licensed per technical lineage on its filed rate card. Neither is built primarily around pre-deploy impact analysis for data engineers.
