Secoda Pricing for the Secoda Data Catalog, Plans, Price History and What a Data Team Pays
Secoda used to print its prices. It stopped in late 2024, and every directory still quoting "$50 a month" is reading a page that no longer exists. Here is the dated price history from Secoda's own archived pages, what Core, Premium and Enterprise include today, and what teams report paying.
Read-only connection. DataTrail never moves or mutates your data.
Secoda does not publish pricing. Its Core, Premium and Enterprise plans all route to sales, and it has shown no dollar figure since late 2024. The last list Secoda printed, in April 2024, was $250 a month for Basic and $750 a month for Core. Vendr, which tracks negotiated deals, reports a median of about $35,000 a year. Atlassian acquired Secoda in December 2025 and has published no price for it either.
Secoda price history, from $400 a month to contact sales
The Internet Archive holds dated snapshots of secoda.co/pricing. Read in order, they show a company moving from self-serve monthly tiers to a quote-only enterprise motion in about two years. The chart plots the lowest and highest published monthly price in each snapshot.
In 2023 Starter was free for one editor, 20 viewers and one integration. Today there is no free plan and no trial button.
Most published tiers were capped by editors and by connected sources. Only Enterprise now states unlimited integrations, so the connector count is still worth putting on the quote.
The "$50" and "$99" figures on review sites match none of the six snapshots. Treat them as unsourced.
| Snapshot | Plans shown | Published price | What the tiers were capped on |
|---|---|---|---|
| May 2023 | Starter, Growth, Business, Enterprise | Free / $400 / $1,200 a month / custom | Priced by editors and integrations: 1, 5 and 10 editors; 1, 2 and 3 integrations |
| January 2024 | Starter, Growth, Enterprise | From $250 / $750 a month / custom | Starter capped at 2 integrations with daily syncs |
| April 2024 | Basic, Core, Enterprise | $250 / $750 a month / custom | Basic up to 4 integrations, Core unlimited integrations |
| September 2024 | Basic, Core, Enterprise | Labels read "starts at $750" and "starts at $2,500" a month | The old $250 and $750 blocks were still in the page code, so which set was visible is unclear |
| December 2024 | Starter, Core, Premium | No prices, "Start free trial" buttons | First capture with no dollar figure |
| September 2025 to today | Core, Premium, Enterprise | No prices, every button goes to contact sales | No free plan, no trial, no published meter |
Secoda Core vs Premium vs Enterprise, features listed and prices withheld
Read on 28 September 2026. All three plans end in a "Learn more" button that opens a contact-sales form. Two things carry over from the old pricing model: viewers are unlimited on every plan, and the seats that write and curate (editors and admins) are listed as "Custom", which is where the quote grows.
| Plan | What the plan lists | Seats | How you buy it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | Column and table-level lineage, full catalog, automations, API, workspace analytics, SAML, RBAC, SSH tunnels, plus SSO, audit logs, AI, monitors, data CI/CD and schema change alerts | Unlimited viewers and teams; editors "Custom" | Contact sales |
| Premium | Everything in Core plus Data Quality Score, guest accounts, policies, PII scanning, groups, SCIM, VPC peering, single-tenant deployment, Slack support, guided onboarding | Unlimited viewers and teams; editors "Custom" | Contact sales |
| Enterprise | Everything in Premium plus custom roles, self-hosted deployment, SIEM logging, access request management, custom integrations, unlimited integrations, dedicated account manager | Unlimited viewers and teams; editors "Custom" | Contact sales |
A small detail on the same page tells you how fast the plans have moved: the pricing FAQ still says the API is available "on Business and Enterprise plans", but a Business plan has not existed since 2023. When you get a proposal, check which plan name it uses and ask for the feature list in writing, because the page itself has not kept up.
Integrations deserve the same care. Every plan says "Data: Select" with no number, and only Enterprise promises unlimited integrations. If your estate is a warehouse, dbt, an orchestrator and two BI tools, that is five sources, more than any of Secoda's capped tiers ever allowed.
How much does Secoda cost in practice
With no vendor price, search results fill the gap with directory figures. We checked each one against Secoda's own archive. Only one source reflects real contracts, and it is an order of magnitude above the directory numbers.
| Source | Figure it shows | Our assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Capterra | $50 a month flat, free version | No source given; matches no Secoda page we could find |
| modern-datatools.com | Free, then $99 a month billed yearly, extra editors $20 | Claims to be verified in August 2026 but cites no URL; contradicts secoda.co |
| SoftwareSuggest | Starting at $50 | No source given |
| Vendr | Median buyer pays $35,000 a year, range $12,000 to $80,000 | Based on deals Vendr says it has seen, the only figure that reflects negotiated contracts |
The last clearly visible Core price annualizes to $9,000. A $35,000 median means most buyers now sit well above that old ceiling.
Viewers are free on every plan. Count the people who will write documentation and the systems you will connect, and put both numbers on the request.
PII scanning, SCIM, VPC peering and single-tenant deployment sit on Premium. If your security review needs them, Core is not the plan you will end up buying.
Secoda lineage, refreshed daily, column-level in two BI tools
Default sync is daily at midnight UTC. You can change the cron, but out of the box a change made at 9am shows up tomorrow.
BI tools with column-level lineage, per Secoda's docs: Looker and Tableau. Other BI connectors are not covered at column level.
Sources with documented column-to-column lineage, including Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, Postgres and Salesforce.
Lineage is parsed from CREATE TABLE AS, CREATE VIEW, MERGE and JOIN statements, plus the dbt manifest for dbt projects.
None of this is a weakness for a catalog, where people browse documentation and a daily refresh is fine. It matters if the reason you are shopping is to see what a schema change will break before it ships, because that question needs the graph as of now, not as of last midnight. The side-by-side with Atlan's lineage is on Secoda vs Atlan.
Secoda pricing vs Alation, Atlan, Collibra and DataHub
Secoda is the only catalog in this group with no current public figure anywhere, not on its site and not on a cloud marketplace. The others each print one real number somewhere, which makes them easier to benchmark than their websites suggest.
| Product | Public list price | What it buys | Source, read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Secoda | Not published since late 2024 | Last public list: $250 and $750 a month (April 2024) | secoda.co/pricing and Wayback, 28 Sep 2026 |
| Alation | $60,000 a year | 1 "Unit", never defined | AWS Marketplace, 28 Sep 2026 |
| Atlan | About $148,700 a year (£110,000) | Advanced platform tier before seats | UK G-Cloud 14 rate card |
| Collibra | $170,000 a year | Collibra Cloud Platform, 1 unit | AWS Marketplace, 26 Aug 2026 |
| DataHub Cloud | $75,000 a year | Discover and Govern, up to 20 monthly active users | AWS Marketplace, 21 Sep 2026 |
| Collate (OpenMetadata) | $75,000 a year | 25 users and 5,000 data assets | AWS Marketplace, 26 Sep 2026 |
| DataTrail | $708 to $5,748 a year | Flat plan, unlimited team members | datatrail.ai/pricing |
Set against these, Vendr's $35,000 median puts Secoda where it has always positioned itself: the mid-market catalog, cheaper than the enterprise names by a wide margin. The detailed breakdowns are on Atlan pricing, Alation pricing, Collibra pricing and DataHub pricing.
When a lineage-first tool is the better buy
Plenty of teams book a Secoda demo because a column rename broke a dashboard and nobody knew which models read it. A full catalog with AI search, a glossary and access requests is a fine purchase, but it is a larger one than that problem needs.
DataTrail connects to Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift or Postgres with a read-only role and parses query history and your dbt project into column-level lineage. Open a column and impact analysis lists every downstream model, exposure and dashboard before the change ships. Schema change alerts and freshness monitoring run on the same graph.
The price is on the page: Starter is $59 a month for one warehouse, Team is $179 with impact analysis, anomaly detection and unlimited team members, and Scale is $479 for multiple warehouses. That is $2,148 a year on Team, about 6 percent of Vendr's Secoda median, with no editor count and no sales call. See the pricing page.
What DataTrail does not do: it is not a business data catalog. There is no glossary, no AI search for business users and no access request workflow. If those are the requirement, Secoda is the better tool, and the honest side-by-side is on Secoda alternatives.
Secoda pricing questions buyers ask
How much does Secoda cost?
Secoda does not publish a price. Its pricing page lists Core, Premium and Enterprise plans and sends every one to a contact form. The last prices Secoda printed were $250 and $750 a month in April 2024. Vendr, which sees negotiated deals, reports a median of about $35,000 a year, with a range of $12,000 to $80,000.
Does Secoda have a free plan?
Not any more. Secoda offered a free Starter plan with one editor, 20 viewers and one integration in 2023, and free trial buttons until late 2024. The current pricing page has no free plan and no trial. Directory sites that still list a free version are showing the old page.
Why did Secoda stop publishing prices?
Secoda has not said. The timeline shows the move: published tiers from $250 to $1,200 a month through mid-2024, a price increase in the labels by September 2024, no dollar figures by December 2024, and fully sales-led plans from September 2025. Atlassian then acquired Secoda in December 2025.
Did the Atlassian acquisition change Secoda pricing?
Not publicly. Secoda's announcement, dated 4 December 2025, says the customer experience will not change and that Secoda will move to Atlassian's cloud platform. As of 28 September 2026 there is no Secoda listing on the Atlassian Marketplace and no Secoda line on Atlassian's Rovo pricing page.
Is Secoda priced per user?
Partly. Every plan includes unlimited viewers and teams, while the number of editors and admins is listed as "Custom", so seats that create and curate content are what the quote scales on. Older Secoda pages also priced by the number of integrations, and today only Enterprise states unlimited integrations.
What is the difference between Secoda Core and Premium?
Core carries the catalog, column and table-level lineage, AI, monitors, API and SSO. Premium adds a Data Quality Score, PII scanning, policies, SCIM, groups, guest accounts, VPC peering and single-tenant deployment. Enterprise adds self-hosting, custom roles, SIEM logging and access request management. None of the three shows a price.
How often does Secoda refresh lineage?
By default once a day. Secoda's integration settings document a default sync schedule of daily at midnight UTC, which you can change with a cron expression. Lineage is parsed from SQL such as CREATE TABLE AS, CREATE VIEW and MERGE, and from the dbt manifest. In BI tools, column-level lineage covers only Looker and Tableau.
Is Secoda cheaper than Atlan or Alation?
Almost certainly at the low end. Atlan's filed rate card starts near $148,700 a year and Alation lists $60,000 on AWS Marketplace, while Vendr reports a Secoda median near $35,000. Secoda publishes no figure of its own, so ask for a written quote tied to the number of editors and integrations before comparing.
What is a cheaper alternative to Secoda for lineage?
If the job is column-level lineage and knowing what a schema change will break, DataTrail costs $59 to $479 a month on a flat plan with unlimited team members, connects read-only to Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks or Postgres, and needs no sales call. It is not a business data catalog, so keep Secoda if discovery and documentation are the requirement.
Where these numbers came from
The current plans come from secoda.co/pricing, read on 28 September 2026. The history comes from Internet Archive captures of the same URL, fetched in raw form so the page code could be read directly:
WB=https://web.archive.org/web curl -s "$WB/20230531id_/secoda.co/pricing" # Growth $400 / Business $1200 curl -s "$WB/20240415id_/secoda.co/pricing" # Basic $250 / Core $750
We searched AWS Marketplace, Azure Marketplace and the Atlassian Marketplace for a Secoda listing that would carry a transactable price, as Alation, Collibra and DataHub do, and found none. Lineage facts come from docs.secoda.co. The Vendr figure is quoted as Vendr reports it and is labeled third-party throughout.
What we did not do: we did not repeat directory prices as if they were Secoda's, and we did not guess a current list price. Every figure here is either Secoda's own, dated, or clearly attributed.
